Choosing Accent Chairs

Whether you are looking for a statement piece in your living room or somewhere comfortable to just relax and read a book, an accent chair is often the perfect solution.

A luxurious armchair is so versatile and adds both style and function to any space—and choosing the right chair for you doesn't have to be hard! We've got a few tips on what to look for to make things easy on you. Check them out:

1. Take the size of your space into consideration. If you are working in a small area, look for something with a more slim design. If you have all the room in the world, find a chair that is plump and oversized. Either way, make sure you have enough room to move around the chair and any other furniture nearby.

2. An accent chair should be just that. When it comes to the material of the chair, choose something that contrasts with your sofa. You want the piece to stand out, not blend in. A different pattern or texture will add an element of interest to your space. And don't forget about the pieces you have in addition to your sofa. Visualizing how it all looks with your coffee table, rug, and artwork is a must.

3. Try to create a space that is comfortable and inviting. Instead of just putting a chair in that empty corner, add a side table and a beautiful floor or table lamp. Take it one step further and add some colorful pillows and a comfy throw.

4. Finally, keep comfort in mind. An accent chair should be enjoyed! Since you aren't trying to seat a crowd, pick a chair you would love to curl up and read a book in or that you can just sink into and spend a lazy afternoon daydreaming.
