Decorating with Throw Pillows

One of our favorite accessories, hands down, is the throw pillow. There is no better (or easier!) way to make any room look more polished and feel totally complete than with perfectly fluffed throw pillows. While we always enjoy researching fabrics and shopping for pillows, there’s something about actually physically fluffing a big, luxuriously stuffed pillow on a sofa that is so satisfying!

If you want to join in on the throw pillow fun, we've got 2 tips when it comes to creating the perfect pillow combination that will leave you feeling happy and your space looking fabulous.

1. Matching is a thing of the past. Be creative with your pillow choices and pull in a variety of sizes, colors, patterns, and textures. You can certainly do all of the above, or just choose one or two—it’s all up to you! We suggest starting with one color and building from there. If you’d like to incorporate some pattern, pick two different options that feature your color of choice. A good rule of thumb for mixing patterns is to choose something simple (think a two-color simple pattern) and something a little more involved or complex. Mixing in solids of various colors always provides some balance, and adding something with texture, like a soft fur pillow, just makes things interesting!

2. Use more than two pillows! After reading tip #1, we’re sure you already have a sense as to what this tip is about. A single pillow on either end of your sofa seems a little lonely and sad. Layering multiple pillows at either end or even all the way across your sofa offers a more rich, luxurious look.

If you still aren't sure where to start when it comes to styling your own sofa, check out some of these beautiful and fun combinations for a little inspiration!
